Automatic Tractography Segmentation by Morphological Continuity Clustering

چکیده
Introduction Several tractography segmentation methods have been proposed to cluster the fibers tracts [1-4]. Most of the methods are based on training data provided by experts [3][4], which did not include short or unknown fiber tracts. Another clustering method depends on the assumption of the cluster number [2]. The cluster results may not be correct if the assumption is violated. In this study, we developed a fully automatic method that is unsupervised and without predefining the number of the clusters. It is based on the concept that the fiber tracts in the same cluster share the morphological continuity, which results in a continuous surface of the fiber bundle. This morphological continuity condition is used to construct the clusters that segment the whole brain fiber tracts. Theory Based on the concept of morphological continuity, we claim that for any two fiber trajectory ti(ri) and tj(rj), they belong to the same cluster if the following morphological continuity condition is satisfied:

Automatic Segmentation of the Gross Tumor Volume in Prostate Carcinoma Using Fuzzy Clustering in Gallium-68 PSMA PET/CT Scan
Introduction: Modern radiotherapy (RT) techniques allow a highly precise deposition of the radiation dose in tumor. So, high conformal tumor doses can be reached while sparing critical organs at risk. Materials and Methods: This study was conducted in three phases. In the first phase; Fourteen patients with primary or recurrent prostate cancer receive Gallium-...
متن کاملAutomatic Prostate Cancer Segmentation Using Kinetic Analysis in Dynamic Contrast-Enhanced MRI
Background: Dynamic contrast enhanced magnetic resonance imaging (DCE-MRI) provides functional information on the microcirculation in tissues by analyzing the enhancement kinetics which can be used as biomarkers for prostate lesions detection and characterization. Objective: The purpose of this study is to investigate spatiotemporal patterns of tumors by extracting semi-quantitative as well as w...
متن کاملFuzzy Nonparametric DTI Segmentation for Robust Cingulum-Tract Extraction
This paper presents a novel segmentation-based approach for fiber-tract extraction in diffusion-tensor (DT) images. Typical tractography methods, incorporating thresholds on fractional anisotropy and fiber curvature to terminate tracking, can face serious problems arising from partial voluming and noise. For these reasons, tractography often fails to extract thin tracts with sharp changes in or...
متن کاملColor image segmentation using morphological clustering and fusion with automatic scale selection
Please cite this article in press as: Lézoray, Recognition Lett. (2008), doi:10.1016/j.pat In this paper, a color image segmentation method considering pairwise color projections is proposed. Each pairwise projection is analyzed according to an unsupervised morphological clustering which looks for the dominant colors of a 2D histogram. This leads to obtaining three segmentation maps combined by...
متن کاملLiver Tumor Segmentation Using Implicit Surface Evolution
A method for automatic liver tumor segmentation from computer tomography (CT) images is presented in this paper. Segmentation is an important operation before surgery planning, and automatic methods offer an alternative to laborious manual segmentation. In addition, segmentations of automatic methods are reproducible, so they can be reliably evaluated and they do not depend on the performer of ...
